This article describes ongoing efforts to build an integrated collection among the libraries of the Tri-College Consortium, whose members, Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore, arc three liberal arts institutions in sOLltheastern Pennsylvania, and traces the history of collaboration among the three schools, a history that stretches hack to the 1940s, as hackground to the current initiative which is focused on collection development. The article descrihes results of various qualitative and quantitative studies undertaken to assess the current state of the collections, patterns of usc, and challenges in moving towards an integrated tri-college lihrary collection. © 2003 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
