Tóm tắt

The faculty of industrial science and technology at the Tokyo University of science developed a twocampus system to produce well-trained engineers possessed of both technical and humanistic traits. All firstyear students come together to start campus life in dormitories in the natural setting of Oshamambe, Hokkaido. This education program provides students with a rich humanity enabling them to empathise with nature. The faculty has started developing a novel e-Learning system, SPES NOVA. We apply the e-learning system, which includes "competency management", "knowledge management", "blended learning", and "group study", to a conventional educational program. The SPES NOVA can record each student's complete discussions as a motion picture in small-group instruction. These contents were developed as a new blended learning system to increase their competency in communication skills. The use of these contents by knowledge management has enhanced the quality of the unique education on the Oshamambe campus. Furthermore, we plan to classify individual students not only according to their academic achievements, but also in relation to their behaviour, temperaments, and lifestyles. Subsequently, we will establish a recursive evaluation system for each student. The results derived from this will be reflected by the e-Leaning system. Beginning in 2006, this project was certified for three years by the ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology as the support program for contemporary educational needs.
