Some thoughts on engineering as a humanistic discipline

The salient facts about public perceptions on the role of engineers and engineering in United States were discussed. The facts were that the engineering education enterprise were in need of some reforms which included the reform of education engineering enterprises. Improving engineering education meant more than improving the education of engineers and the engineering faculty were ought to be more responsible for the liberal education of every student on campus. It was suggested that some courses should be open to non engineering majors with the development of educational materials.
