While the growth in employment of all occupations in the US Information Technology (IT) industry between 1996-2006 is projected at 88.25%, the growth of college/university IT and Computer Science (CS) faculty is only projected at 18.3%. These findings motivated faculty of several US educational institutions to propose the National Science Foundation (NSF) CCLI-EMD project that is aimed at design and development of several IT and Computer Science (CS) online degree programs (on both, Associate of Applied Science Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree levels) in US colleges and universities. This NSF grant is hosted by the InterLabs Research Institute at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Bradley University. Project team consists of faculty from Bradley University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Midstate College, Illinois Central College. © 2002 IEEE.
