A curriculum review at the University of Portland was started with the goal of designing curricula that provide students the best possible engineering education, are truly four year curricula, meet or exceed the ABET Engineering Criteria 2000, are outcomes based, and bring the liberal arts requirements in line with the University's common core curriculum. In this article, an interpretation of the EC 2000 is given as well as an overview of a step-by-step assessment plan to make the degree programs EC 2000 compliant. A curriculum development process that addresses the EC 2000 program outcomes is also described.
