The accreditation of software engineering program (SWE) academic degree programs is becoming a reality. The impending integration of ABET and CSAB may facilitate the SWE accreditation process, but could have negative effects on accreditation of computer science programs, particularly those in liberal arts colleges and universities. In fact, the computing profession is split on the accreditation issue.
