Fort Lewis College is a four-year, public, liberal arts college in Durango, Colorado. Typical enrollment is between 4,000 and 4,500 students. Librarians are tenure-track faculty on 12-month contracts. Library instruction has been provided over the years as typical one-shot BIs for specific subjects and classes. About three years ago, faculty revamped the composition program. Library faculty were asked to teach a one-credit library research course to complement the new COMP 150. In this article, Greenwood and Frisbie share the problem and the solution that led to LIB 150. © 1998, MCB UP Limited
