The Geographer's Craft enables geographic techniques to be incorporated within the liberal arts curriculum in the US. Recent technological advances have intensified divergence between specialized and systematic training within geography's many subdisciplines. The Geographer's Craft is designed to reduce this divergence by: integrating the teaching of a variety of techniques within a two-semester introductory course; and using a problem-solving approach to stress the relationship between geographical techniques and analytical reasoning. The Geographer's Craft uses hypermedia and multimedia techniques to present students with an electronic textbook combining application software, text, photographs, maps, motion video, graphics, sound, and interactive communication in a multi-window environment. -Author
