The author recommends that education at all levels provide for learning opportunities that will encourage the synthesis of theoretical, empirical and personal experience and knowledge through the study and investigation of systems, and should place greater emphasis on process than on easily quantifiable measures of outputs. It is proposed that educators would profit by adopting the conceptual approaches of ecology and the broader model of environmental studies for application to educational policy and practice. -Author
