Demographic characteristics of faculty who require and who do not require computer utilization in courses they teach are investigated. Also studied are relationships between individual faculty traits and: (a) utilization of computers in instruction for specific purposes, (b) perceived obstacles to computer infusion in the classroom, (c) types of materials used in instruction with computers. Subjects (N=118) were faculty of one of the liberal arts universities who responded to a questionnaire. Results showed that differences exist between: (a) faculty traits and utilization of computers for specific purposes; (b) sex, and age, and utilization of instruction materials while teaching with computers; (c) perceived obstacles and purposes for which computers are used in the classroom. © 1991 Taylor & Francis.
