The article describes a joint venture between a large multihospital corporation and a private liberal arts college to establish a baccalaureate nursing program. The history of the venture and an outline of typical decisions made during the initiation of the college of nursing are discussed. Positive outcomes are highlighted for the college, multihospital system, and community. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
