Two years after its conception, the Elderhostel program continues to draw acclaim from participants, staff, and observers. The Aristotelian concept of the liberal arts deals with the interplay between subject matter and learner. So great is this interplay in the Elderhostel program that it is difficult to judge whether the hosteler is more liberated or more liberating. This leads to the observation that one good way of solving problems is to treat them as solutions. © 1977 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
