Tóm tắt

Improving the abilities of our future engineers seems to call for enhanced study of the natural sciences as against continued study of applications of current hardware; however, we find that today's engineering college was built and designed along hardware lines. A new form of engineering college organization is proposed in which the departmental and divisional responsibilities cover areas of scientific subject matter rather than areas leading to specific degrees. Realignment of conventional departmental areas will lead to an engineering program which will carry some of the aspects of liberal arts but with technical course subject matter. It should provide the freedom of choice and the mathematical depth required for the engineer of tomorrow. COPYRIGHT © 1958—THE INSTITUTE OF RADIO ENGINEERS, INC.
