"Responses to a set of value items by 88 public school graduates and 77 private school graduates who were seniors in a large liberal arts college were compared. The public school boys were found to be more Doing, Man-over-nature, Individualistic, Equalitarian, and Achievement oriented; more public school boys valued the opportunity to exercise a particular competence, to make a contribution to society, and to add to the accumulating body of knowledge and culture; and they valued less the opportunity to make decisions and give orders, to asume responsibility, and to be in close contact with others."
